Salts first XV are looking forward to next season. First XV captain Chris Davies and coach Alli Hope have worked hard to achieve what is a very young but experienced squad. Why not come along to the regular training sessions and add to to the talent pool ?

Rugby Ladies Tour
Many thanks to Debbie Mandel who organised a superb weekend Ladies tour to London. We left early on Sat morning all 46 of us Old Salts Ladies and friends. We had a Matinee Performance of ‘ Phantom of the Opera’, which was a truly fantastic performance. Debbie had managed to get us really good seats in the stalls.
This was followed by an over night stay in the Crowne Plaza hotel at Heathrow. The hotel provided a buffet after most of us had made use of the facilities - swimming pool, sauna, and steam room. The Old Salts Ladies!!! Had a pyjama party when a few bottles of wine were downed and a few jokes, and we all had a good laugh.

Sunday morning after full English breakfast we drove into central London to Kensington Palace
for a 3-hour visit, then onto Covent Garden for a shopping expedition,
returning home late Sunday afternoon.
Debbie had once again excelled herself and organised a brilliant weekend it looks like next year we may well need two coaches anyone interested in getting away from the Lads next year contact Debbie. To be found most weekends behind the bar or in the kitchen - no she is not chained there she enjoys it, so I’ve been told !!!

Under 15s Kit Sponsor
Our Under 15's team started the season in great style.  Thanks to generous sponsorship by Robert Woodcock, through his company, Birmingham 4 x 4, the players sported brand new match shirts for their first game of the season against Rugby Lions.  Mick Lee contributed to the teams fashion overhaul through a donation to provide both players and coaches with tracksuit tops to warm up in prior to matches.  It's got to be said this is the best-dressed team in the club!  Anyone interested in sponsoring junior club shirts should contact Mandy Lloyd on 07746 026815.

Sunday 2nd December marked the occasion of the first match for the Old Saltleians girls tag rugby team.  After 7 Weeks of training, all the girls performed incredibly with lots of enthusiasm and team spirit. The Session started with combined training, conducted by our hosts Bourneville, to introduce the girls and pair them up for drills, so the Bourneville girls could pass on their many years of knowledge. After the initial training session, Old Salts Girls played Bourneville Girls in a very exciting match. Although Bourneville beat us marginally, the girls held their heads up high and the appalling weather did not faze them, if anything, I would say the mud and rain added to the girl's excitement.
A lot was learnt at this session, i.e. Speed, (Bourneville can move fast) agility and above all, to work as a team. The Bourneville girls have played as a team for many years, but this did not stop them giving our girls advice & support on the field, which was great to see.
After the match, the older girls mixed together to challenge the coaches and younger ones to another game, this was an interesting challenge which resulted in some splashing in the mud by some adults.
We plan to return the hospitality and host a match at Old Saltleians early in the New Year, please come and support.

Well done Girls

The next stage for the team is to join the Midland League; this will help with further development, and gain experience of other clubs.
