Score
O Dear
What a shame. After 2 wins on the run, the team is hit by Flu and get a good beating by Birmingham and Solihull. I will not mansion the score, but I would like to praise all the lads, especially the new boys that played their first or second game against such a well formed and experienced B&S. The few lads that have played for a few years also had to play out of position, with Randle taking up Full back and Brown taking on the role of Fly Half. And yet after many a tri against them, and setting up base camp under the posts, no one dropped their heads, and all fought to the end.
Man of the match goes to Jack Clayton.  Normally plays wing, volunteered to play in the pack to make      up the numbers.

But I would like to say that after a very poor start to the season, the team has grown in number and training drills can be tailored, improving the overall performance of the team.  This was demonstrated with a win over Leicester forest of 39-10. The determination in the squad showed, through out the match, and with a new situation of having substitutes, players were able to apply themselves in the first half, knowing that when exhaustion set in, they could be replaced. Well done to all the players.
Man of the Match - Callum McMahan with 4 impressive tri's

I would also like to thank Simon, the Leicester forest Coach, for stepping in and conduction the refereeing to
a very high and fair level.

Old Halesonians (Home)
Score
On the 7th October Salts lost to Old Halesonians 5-21 at home. This did not bode to well for today's match. However on arrival in the Changing room, all the lads had turned up, baring a few injuries, and the atmosphere was electric. We have not seen a team with this much energy since the start of the Season.
A 2 Min Silence was held by the two teams prior to kick off.
As the game started Salts took control, and gained good ground driving Hales onto their back feet. The pack dominated the rucks and passed the ball cleanly down the back line allowing M Bryan to Loop around and plant the first try of the Match by the Left hand Corner flag. Salts Spirits soared, and building on the domination of the game, McMahon scored 2 more tri's for salts with some long runs through Hales backs.
M Bryan repeated his loop again and this time the Hales defence drive into him keeping him off the line by inches. All the forwards drove in hard to defend the ball and a few times it got within touching distance of the line only to be driven back by the Hales defence, until the whistle went and a penalty was awarded against salts for playing the ball on the ground.
Half time Score   15-0
The second half started as well as the first half with the forwards contesting at every opportunity and the backs in perfect formation. Aldridge made a break, after Randle defended a loose ball and the forwards ensured it was fed to the backs, and planted a clear try under the post; however the Hales defence managed to slip a hand under the ball. So no point awarded, a Plucky Run for Aldridge after been moved to the backs from his usual 2nd row spot a few weeks ago.
Soon after this M Bryan made up for this, by planting another ball over the line, which was converted into a strong wind by Randle.
Hales were determined not to go home with Zero points, and their scrum half took all by surprise by slipping down a tight blind side from a scrum, and sprinting half the pitch with 4 of our players on his heals. Tri scored. Salts were so wound up by this, their game stepped up another gear, and McMahon put another 5 points on the board for Salts.
In all, both teams played with discipline, with no ball hogging and plenty of support and offloading at the right time. However Salts Dominated with 80% of the game played in Hales territory, allowing Callum McMahon to score his hat trick.
I would also like to say well done to our new members of the team, who experienced their first match, and put all their training over the last four weeks into practice, and to Pointer who even though he has a gash to his knee, thought he could get past Bill, our team first aid officer, with a big bandage on his leg, plucky try but not subtle enough.

Leicester Forest (Away)

Salts started with a weak first quarter. The team Full Back was injuried and a wing was sick, however both came to the match to support) and 2 away leaving a team of 14.
Within the first 5 minutes, our fly half took a bad tackle and was off for the duration with a damaged knee.
This left Salts with 13 players on the pitch to take on the Forest XV.
After the first 15 minutes the Salts woke up to the game giving Forest a good run and returning some trys to be on level points at half time. However Forest demonstrated fast support to rucks and mauls in the second half winning a number of turnovers and runing into the space left by the depleated backs.

Both teams look forward to the next match in the fixture on 18th November
